Sinopsis
Synopsis
In 2020, a huge government project began in Mexico. Some 1,525 kilometers of railways are being built, more or less along the coast, in the Yucatan Peninsula, cradle of the Mayan culture. The filmmakers follow the route, where some of the tracks are already laid, and where a train once ran. Using archival images and serene views of the splendid landscape, they calmly investigate what the colorful people who live along the route think of the Mayan Train. Much is already being lost to tourism, especially in the coastal resorts of Cancun and Tulum, as Mayan culture is so closely intertwined with nature. The great variety of origins and ages of the inhabitants of Yucatán gives rise to a history full of nuances and colors.
